East Side Congregations for Housing Justice is an interfaith coalition of more than 30 congregations and community organizations on Manhattan's Eastside. Many of our congregations and agencies provide services to homeless people in this community. We are linked through the East Side Homeless Network, which seeks to enhance collaboration and communication among homeless services providers in order to expand access and improve services. Our work with homeless people informs our policy advocacy efforts.
The mission of Eastside Congregations for Housing Justice is to increase awareness in our community and build support for just and sustainable housing policies, with the long-term goal of ending homelessness. We support more planning and more public funding directed toward expanding the supply of affordable permanent housing and supportive housing services.
